Matt Stevens (John Ashley) is the big man at high school.
He sweats the students for protection money, acquires copies of tests for a fee, and has rigged the votes so he can beat Kelly (Lowell Brown) in the election for student president.
Aside from his anointed acolytes, Matt is almost universally despised.
His parents are obscenely rich and spend their time travelling in Europe rather than giving him the parental guidance he needs.
Things begin to get ugly when some of the teens resist his power and show Matt up at the drag race.
SOME SPOILERS>>>>>>>>>> WARNING!!!!!!!!
Mat is a hep cat who rules the school along with his gang of hooligans. Cricket is his flunky who follows him like a puppy and wants to be just like Mat when he grows up!
The bad guys only have one girl who follows around with them... kinda makes you wonder... Well, I digress...
There is no crime beneath Mat...
...cheating in an election
...selling test papers
...paying his thugs to perform burglary at the school
...shaking down his classmates for protection money
...moving in on his best friend's crush
AND, WORST OF ALL...... talking rudely to the butler!!!!
Watch to find the answers to these questions...
Who wins the drag race?
What is the secret of the gold coin?
Will the butler finally smack Mat in the mouth, or will someone else do it for him?
Will Cricket stand by Mat until the end?
Will Wanda survive Mat's advances?
When will someone finally call the police?
Why the HECK does he spell his name MAT instead of MATT????
(Well, this last question will not be answered by watching the movie... but, I had to ask!!!!!!!!!!)
For some reason this was one of the first pre-recorded VHS movies I ever picked up, at the Consumer Electronics Show in the early 80's. One of the many emerging precord exhibitors had a bunch of exploitation specials for video store rental/retail and were handing out samples. I still have it someplace, but thanks for the digital update!
I gave it one star for the great opening theme and bongo-laced music, one star for Daria Massey's strutting performance, and one star for John Ashley's hair obsession. Everyone else is terrible, with the exception of Kelly the doomed drag racer who's played by Lowell Brown, better known as Danny, half of the drifting duo in "The Girl from Lovers Lane."

I knew a dumba$$ like him in school
Till he ticked me off one day and almost got thrown out the 3rd floor window in class till the gym teacher saved his punk self from instant concrete from 50 feet up.. he never opened his mouth the wrong way again after that. lol
To bad the "bulldog" they bought was a Boston Terrier.that would be a really tough mascot I guess if your school was from Boston and maybe the tidly winks club, but obviously this isn't Boston.
Cricket wasn't really that bad, but the director of this pile of plastic was horrid and cast him completely wrong and what happened to police investigating a wreck and a dead body? Maybe it's just me, but if my best friend was run off the road and killed i MIGHT just call a cop instead of Bob and his pals doing the police dirty work here. Then the real killer dud bullet was the way over drawn out plea for forgetting the whole accidental murder thing and aside from the root beer stand vender calling the police they never showed up...EVER!

The poor little thing!
Awww... poor little Mat... it isn't his fault that he is a sociopathic ganster. If only his mom would just write a little something to hi when she sends those checks from Europe.
Watch this movie, and you will shed a tear for that class bully who beat the poop oyt of you every day and made your life a living hell.
Also, I do believe the kid who played "Cricket" in this movie is theWORST actor ever... He is at least in the top two.
